What We Believe

  • We believe the Bible is the inspired word of God (2 Tim 3:16)
  • We are committed to loving God with all our heart, mind, soul and strength and loving our neighbor as ourselves (Matt 22:37-40)
  • We believe that Jesus is the Son of God, is the only way to the Father, and is the head of the church (Mark 1:1John 14:6Col 1:18)
  • We are saved only by the grace of God, not by works (Eph. 2:8), and through faith in Jesus, repentance, and baptism into Christ, we accept the free gift of forgiveness and salvation that comes through Christ (Acts 2:38-39) our only mediator to God (1 Tim 2:5)
  • Our mission on earth is to make disciples of all nations (Matt 28:18-20) and to always remember the poor (Gal. 2:10)

  • Over the last several decades the Greater Houston Church of Christ has been involved in helping others to come to know Christ and His salvation, having a focus on close, honest, and meaningful Christian relationships with one another. We also strive to take the 'great commission' of Christ (Matt 28:18-20) seriously as we have an evangelistic focus to share the gospel to all nations, including the many college campuses in our area.

  • We desire to see the gospel of Christ spread across the globe, therefore we are involved in missional efforts locally here in Houston, regionally throughout Texas, and the Southcentral United States.  We have been involved in helping to plant churches in Lubbock, College Station, Oklahoma, and soon, Corpus Christi, and plan to continue planting churches in this region over the next several years, bringing the gospel message to more people.

  • We make benevolent efforts both locally and internationally through service projects and assistance to the needy both in and out of the church. Our international benevolent focus has been primarily in Russia and currently in Africa, occasionally sending people on short and long term mission trips to various locations.  We also partner with  HOPE worldwide and HOPE Houston, in many of our benevolent efforts, and have given millions of dollars to both missional and benevolent funding.
